When he was being, well, grumpy, his mom pulled the stuffed animal out to soothe him. Many years later, while I was studying abroad in Rome and he was back home, I sent him a new Grumpy Bear to keep him company on Valentine’s Day. He couldn’t believe that I had remembered that story and managed to hunt one down. (Trust me, it was not so easy to find back then!)

Sometimes the most touching gestures are beautiful in their simplicity. Click here to watch one of the most creative marriage proposals I’ve ever seen. Aside from being adorable, this a fantastic proposal because the groom spent hours getting it just right: telling their story, including details from their life, even matching the clothes they were wearing when they first met -  with Legos! And the wedding guests are just beyond awesome.

Since he is a photographer and filmmaker, presumably this didn’t cost much other than loads of time, the best type of investment for a memorable proposal.

I hope these figures make appearances throughout their wedding, from a photo save-the-date to cake toppers.
