A Tisket, A Tasket, About that Basket… Part One

Who doesn’t melt upon seeing an adorable flower girl and handsome ring bearer making their way down the aisle? It’s one of my favorite parts of the wedding day. As traditions change, their role has changed a bit as well. Many venues do not allow petals to dropped onto the floor, and most of my couples fasten fake rings to the pillow, if any rings at all. This leaves lots of room for creativity beyond a basket of petals and a white satin pillow.

For flower girls, some brides select a miniature version of their own bouquet or bridesmaids bouquets. Our flower girl carried a nosegay and loved it. She felt that she looked just like one of the older girls!

A pomander is another adorable option. Fresh flowers are a lovely choice (though they can be a bit heavy). They can also be made of fabric or even paper.

What about something any little girl is sure to love, like ribbons or pinwheels?

The item that she carries can easily tie into the theme of your wedding.

Next, let’s look at some alternatives for your ring bearer.
